On July 17, 2017 we entered into a contract to purchase the former Zarsky Lumber Yard & Warehouse located in Harlingen, TX. The property is HUGE! It includes four buildings sitting on 1.452 acres.

Being centrally located in Harlingen will help us serve more people in Cameron and Willacy counties. But don't worry, we are not leaving Hidalgo County. In fact, this expansion will allow us to better utilize our space in McAllen to better serve all of Hidalgo and Starr counties.

To upgrade the facilities for our usage, we need to make a total of $150,000 in improvements.

Please join us August 31st as we kick off this great next chapter for Habitat for Humanity of the Rio Grande Valley. If you can't make the event, please consider making a donation to help build strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter!

Your donation will help Valley families in FOUR major ways:

Stewardship— The property will facilitate a savings of $44,650 in new construction costs each year. This is enough to build an additional new home! The space available on the property will provide storage for material purchased in bulk. We will also save money by building walls and trusses in the construction yard.

Volunteerism— The construction yard will serve as a volunteer hub, allowing for volunteers of all ages to assist with our construction efforts.

Education—Through partnerships with the Building and Construction Programs at local colleges and universities, such as UTRGV, TSTC, and STC, students will apply their classroom education in a practical way while promoting affordable homeownership.

Fundraising— The ReStore sells new and gently used merchandise to the public to help raise funds for our construction projects. The additional funds generated from the ReStore will cover all our operating costs, allowing for direct contributions to go directly to the hard costs of construction.

This new facility will change the lives of THOUSANDS of low income families throughout the RGV. Will you consider making a meaningful impact on your community by donating to this campaign?
